Here is a list of resources that I believe may be helpful to have a successful online business, some I use to run my blogs and others come highly recommended from people I trust. It will continue to grow in time as I learn more of different tools and information to use. In my posts, I will reference this page often, so I recommend bookmarking it for reference and convenience. Please note that some of these links are affiliate links to products where I may receive a commission. I am not recommending these products because of the commission I may receive, but because they are helpful and are companies that I trust.
THEMES & TEMPLATES:
StudioPress: Personal favorite of professional themes to use. I am using the Lifestyle theme as an example for this site.
Bluehost: I have all my sites except for one hosted on Bluehost. Very easy to use, and if you need additional help their support is excellent. I have called the support line and also used the chat feature, both times the service were exceptional.
Coffee Cup: ZIP files that are compressed to take up less space and bandwidth. Coffee Cup offers a free ZIP wizard for Windows users if you do not already have this on your computer.
FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
Filezilla: Open source software that is free, allows you to upload files to your web server (web host).
Coffee Cup: There is a free version available under “Free Stuff” which if you move your mouse to the “Software” tab it should be listed there.
http://www.gimp.org/ GIMP is a free software that allows image retouching and editing. Gimp allows you to edit, resize, or crop photos. This software also allows for animated images to be created in several formats. You can also create icons, art, and graphical elements for your web pages. There is also a great forum where you can ask questions, or learn how to do additional features with the software.
